Andy is a graduate of the University of California - Santa Cruz (UCSC), where he majored in Vocal Performance. Andy has 30 years of experience as a church musician and has also performed throughout the world as a classical tenor.
Andy began his musical journey at the age of four with violin lessons. From there he has studied piano, guitar, oboe, bass and voice. While ultimately focusing on voice, he never gave up his love of instruments, and to this day he plays the guitar, the bass, and the piano regularly. Prior to coming to St. John's, Andy served as Director of Music Ministries to Foothill Presbyterian Church in East San Jose. In this position he lead multiple ensembles including: a traditional church choir, an acapella quartet, hand bells, a praise band and a ukulele ensemble. In time, he hopes to have the opportunity to implement much of that experience into the worship at St. John’s. Because he has experience in both classical and contemporary worship styles, he views himself as a bridge between the two styles. He has long felt that one style accentuates the other. |
