Adult Formation

St. John's offers a variety of programs which meet the diverse needs of our Parish. The following activities exemplify offerings which meet at regular intervals:
We seek to facilitate, to deepen our personal and communal connections with the Holy Spirit, energizing ourselves and our congregation. We hope to meet you wherever you may be on road, to offer you a way to grow spiritually through fellowship in a Christian community.
Sunday adult formation programs happen between the two services, from 9-10 a.m.
Formation classes are led by both our local clergy and parishioners and invited guest speakers. We listen, learn and discuss a wide range of topics, both local and global issues, with an ear towards a faithful response.
- Book discussion groups
- Support groups for fellowship and religious education
- Contemplative prayer and meditation practices

Parish-Wide Study of the Acts of the Apostles
From the week of June 5, 2022 through the week of October 16, 2022, we will be reading through the Acts of the Apostles as a parish.
Click here for the reading schedule.
There will be two opportunities to read and discuss with others: Sunday mornings from 9-10 a.m. and Wednesday evenings from 7-8 p.m. Both sessions will be held simultaneously in person at the church (in the Nursery) or online on Zoom. (Subscribe to our weekly email for the Zoom links.) You can attend the same session (Sunday or Wednesday) each week, or switch around as most convenient for you. (For instance, if you normally attend Sunday mornings but you're out of town one weekend, you could catch the Wednesday night session that week instead.)
During each class session, we will read the passage assigned for that week out loud and discuss it along the way. Different people will take turns reading out loud, but no one will be required to read aloud if you don't want to. You are encouraged to bring different translations of the Bible so we can hear different versions read aloud. No advance preparation is required, although you're welcome to read the passage beforehand if you would like to. Join us in this parish-wide reading of Acts!
If you can't or don't want to attend either of the sessions, you can read along week-by-week with the reading schedule on your own at home.
