Taizé Prayer around the Cross
Come, gather your thoughts and prayers at the end of the day. The service includes silence, singing, scripture and other readings and prayer around the Cross. Taizé songs are simple and come in every language; we will do some in Spanish. We pray and meditate on themes of significance to us now:
• peace among nations,
• preservation of the earth,
• peaceful resolution for the blight of violence in our communities,
• respite for those among us suffering in poverty, homelessness, mental illness and the clutch of addiction.
The tradition of Taizé is from a monastic community that is ecumenical and international, started in 1940 by Brother Roger who went to the village of Taizé, France, and began hiding Jews and other refugees. His work drew people to him and eventually became a movement inspiring people everywhere.
Themes of reconciliation and peace were of utmost significance to founder Brother Roger during WW ll and continue to be important to participants all over the world. We dream of a community where people, each very different, might find reconciliation and peace; in families, between religions, between nations and within the whole human family.
Monthly on Wednesday evenings (5/29, 6/26, 7/24, & 8/28) at 7:30 p.m.
