Rector Search
St. John's is calling our next rector. We are a solid parish with a healthy mix of strengths and opportunities in Aptos, CA, situated on the Monterey Bay's "sunny side." With any questions, or to apply, please contact the Rev. Canon Martha Korienek at [email protected]. Applications need to include a cover letter (addressed to the Transition Team), a resume, and an OTM profile. Click for Parish Profile |
St. John's Rector, Mother Tracy Wells Miller, resigned in Sept. 2023. Bishop Lucinda Ashby has appointed The Rev. Erika Jackson-Essiem to serve as the Interim Pastor of St. John's starting October 1, 2024.
The Rector Transition Committee has begun the search process for our next Rector. They serve as a sub-committee of the Vestry, charged with working in partnership with the Canon to the Ordinary or their delegate, to complete the tasks and responsibilities of the clergy transition. The transition process is intended to discover more about the identity of the parish and the context in which the parish serves. The process is diocesan, and guidelines for this diocesan process are developed and established by the Canon to the Ordinary and approved by the Bishop. The tasks to be completed by the parish are important, take time, and call for participation by as many members as possible - a feat accomplished well with good Team members.

The first part of the team’s work was to draw from our church family the issues, concerns and priorities that are important to us, and to discern why we are motivated to serve our community. The result is the above Parish Profile which has been approved by the Vestry and the Bishop and may be shared with the congregation
