Evening Prayer – Mon. 5:00 p.m.
This is a half-hour service of quiet Scripture reading and prayers. Daily Evening Prayer from the Book of Common Prayer is led by a member of the parish and open to all. It is a quiet time and a lovely way to draw the work-day to a close.
Compline – Tues. 7:00 p.m.
Compline emerged in the life of the church in the 300s as bedtime prayers of monks in their dormitories. In the late middle ages, Compline was said daily in churches. Following similar moves by other provinces of the Anglican Communion in the early twentieth century, including the Church of Ireland, the Church of England, and the Anglican Church of Canada, Compline was restored to the Book of Common Prayer (p. 127) of the Episcopal Church in 1979, It is a service filled with tranquility and peace.
Friday Noonday Prayer - 12:00 p.m.
Noonday Prayer is a very brief service in the Book of Common Prayer. Using the bones of the BCP service, each week has a different emphasis: First Friday Contemplative Prayer, Second Friday the Word, Third Friday Healing, Fourth Friday Books. Scripture readings are generally taken from Saints’ feast days. Interactive sharing is often included in this half hour, mid-day service.
All are welcome in this space.
