Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA)

RCIA is an acronym for the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. It is the processes by which adult persons become members of the Episcopal Church.

The first Christians learned what Jesus taught by forming a community and living with those who already adopted the faith. RCIA is helpful for those who have not explored their Christian faith since childhood and are longing to develop a mature faith. It is also helpful for those new to Christianity or new to St. John’s.

Candidates for RCIA meet weekly over the course of nine weeks and are asked to also meet with their companion. A companion shares their own faith story with the candidate and supports the candidate through prayer, presence and exploration of faith.

RCIA classes generally begin the Sunday after Ash Wednesday. Please contact Father Steve for more information.
