Genesis II: Re-Vision and Renew
Genesis II: Re-Vision and Renew is an innovative ministry redevelopment initiative of The Episcopal Church's denominational headquarters, supported by the Presiding Bishop's office. Genesis II is focused on strengthening parishes for the challenging, yet exciting, work of launching new ministries in their neighborhoods. The program has a particular focus on the practice of building relationships with fellow parishioners and with the wider community, believing that through these relationships we will discover the ways God is active in and around our congregations.
St. John's is one of three congregations currently participating in Genesis II's Practicing Communities program. Our St. John's team meets every Sunday at 4 p.m. locally, and connects with the Genesis II mentors/guides and the teams from the other two congregations (All Saints in Frederick, MD and Trinity in Newtown, CT) every first and third Sunday on Zoom at 1 p.m. The rest of the time, you'll find the team out in the community and among the congregation, searching for where and how the Holy Spirit is at work.
